In additional to its usual, popular, monthly markets on The Green, Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) has announced it’s helping to stage two further events in our village centre this summer.
The first is another ‘Makers’ Night’ in June whilst the second is a brand new ‘Street Food Summer Social’* at the end of August.
After being disrupted by the pandemic, Ruddington’s annual Makers’ Night is returning to its original summer spot in the calendar. Organised by RVCP’s Market team in partnership with the Framework Knitters’ Museum and the Debbie Bryan Gallery, Makers’ Night promises to showcase over 70 high quality regional crafters and makers across multiple indoor venues around the village centre, bringing everything from fine art to exquisite jewellery.
This year’s Makers Night takes place on Friday 24th June from 4pm until 9pm, and expands on last September’s event by adding even more locations to the line-up, including St Peter’s Rooms, Ruddington Methodist Hall, the Framework Knitters’ Museum, Ruddington Conservative Club, The Cottage Hotel (pictured top) and St Peter’s Church (below).
Stella Dickie of RVCP, says: “Last year’s restrictions meant we had to delay the event until September, so this year we’re really excited to bring Makers’ Night back to its original midsummer date. It’s one of our favourite events of the year, with so many talented artists, designers, makers and crafters coming along. The whole village comes alive, and many of Ruddington’s fabulous indie shops and cafes open late, joining in with their own popup stalls. It all adds to the brilliant atmosphere in the village on the night, with visitors staying to enjoy summer drinks at Ruddington’s bars and pubs.”
Then, on Saturday August 27th from 11am to 5pm, the team is promising there’ll be “good food, good friends, good times” with an inaugural event called ‘Street Food Summer Social’*. Organisers reveal: “It’s your favourite market crew, but this one’s less about the shopping, more about the summer hangout with good food and friends. Think wicked hot street foods, an ace line-up of sweet treat stalls, loads of seating to rest up and eat with your mates, some cool stuff for the kids to do, chuck in some cheeky grown-up drinks and decent tunes well into the late afternoon.”

*UPDATE 12th JULY
Whilst Makers’ Night was once again a great success, RVCP has just announced it’s postponing the ‘Street Food Summer Social’ – due to many vendors not being available on the planned date.
We can now expect this to happen in 2023 instead. Meantime RVCP is concentrating on other events such as the inaugural RUDD Awards just announced this November and the 2022 Christmas Market.
